I'm a serial entrepreneur driven by exciting opportunities and career growth. Service-oriented and approachable; consultative, and fun - I genuinely enjoy building relationships and creating value.
My professional career began in web design, digital marketing, and IT at the age of 23. I started my first company, sticky IT, with my business partner and wife, Stef. After 8 years of award-winning service to the headhunting and recruiting industry, we established a key relationship with MRINetwork - a global recruiting franchise with over 1000 office locations. As their preferred vendor, we spearheaded all new office development and worked closely with all new franchisees. sticky IT was subsequently sold to a larger outfit in Toronto that wanted access to the space and relationship.
Newly found retirement didn't appeal to us, so we set our sights on a new venture - real estate! First, we entered the flipping scene but quickly moved into general brokerage. We serviced buyers and sellers in southeastern NC, specifically in Wilmington. After 2 productive years, we founded Spot Real Estate - a brokerage that quickly ascended into the top 15 brokerage firms in the region, selling nearly $125M in sales volume as of 2021. Holding an agent count of over 70 people and 2 office locations, spanning New Hanover and Pender counties, we made the decision to sell our business interest to our incredible partners Angie and Cedric Robinson. Once again we were looking to dive deeper into something new.
Brick & Mojo was founded, not just as a general brokerage firm, but as an entity to help our clients through various business-based real estate decision-making. As a third-time entrepreneur, I’m excited to deploy my various career skillsets at Brick & Mojo.
In our first venture, sticky IT, a branding and web design firm, I was responsible for all brand creation and collateral for our company and our clients. In addition to the operations of our company, I wore many hats: chief visionary, brand builder, social media guru, billing and administration, and HR! This small business gave me my entrepreneurial chops you could say! We secured the 'preferred vendor' status of a global network of executive recruiters, The MRINetwork. We were proud to win “Vendor of the Year” awards four years running, as well as “Best in Class” awards each year we were in service to the organization. After growing the company to eight staff and managing over 1,000 clients worldwide, we brokered the sale of that company to a buyer in Canada and were off to our next adventure, real estate.
We spent a few years working in real estate, by way of flipping and renovations and then eventually into general brokerage with a large big-box real estate firm. After learning the ropes, we set out to start our second chapter, a real estate brokerage, Spot Real Estate. I was responsible for creating the name, logo, and brand, all internal materials, and the interior design for our commercial up-fit for our two office locations. As President and Managing Broker, I was formative in company policies, hiring, staging design, and general administration and operations of our two office locations and over 70 agents.
Life has a way of sneaking up on you, and while we were growing this stellar boutique brokerage - we were also growing our family! I am the proud mom to 3 boys (Weston, Hudson & Ethan) and it’s definitely my favorite and most challenging role to date! Looking to simplify our responsibilities and focus on our family, I used my experience to broker the sale of our interest in Spot to our amazing business partners, and now here we are!
With this new endeavor, I want to focus more acutely on ‘high-touch’ consulting for our real estate clients and investor partners. From creating the brands and marketing of our new subdivisions to design ideas to optimize short-term rentals, to staging or remixing a client’s home to go live ‘on the market’ - I am eager to put my years of experience and design to work for you!
